Last Saturday the Wantoks went head to head with open men’s division leaders on the points table PFC Guys. It was the last match up for the day and it was the game everyone was waiting to see. PFC guys were first to score giving them some good momentum in the opening minutes of the game. Wantoks eventually caught up and both teams replied with a goal each until the scores were at 2 all. Wantoks picked up the pace in the second half and went on to score 2 more goals giving them a comfortable lead on PFC Guyz. PFC were short on time but managed to get one last goal in before the hooter blew with Wantoks taking the lead from the PFC Guyz winning the match 4 goals to 3. In the previous matches Titikaveka Blue Balls defeated Matavera FC knocking them off of 2nd place on the table whilst Titikaveka moves up to 3rd. Nikao Sokattak got their first win of the competition when they took on the mighty Black Wolves ending the game at 3 goals to 2. The game looked to end at a 2 all draw before a penalty kick in favor of Nikao Sokattak gave them the edge they needed before the game came to an end. The young PFC Boys team also had a taste of victory on Saturday as they defeated the MC Stallions 4 – 1.
The Ladies in Black retain their lead on the points table after a smashing victory against the Vibers with the final score being 5 goals to nil. The PFC Maidenz were up next against the Matavera FC Women’s team where they also managed a victory with no goals scored from the opposition. PFC Maidenz Victoria Fatiaki went on to score all 3 of Puaikura’s goals to ensure they do not lose their ranking on the points table. PFC Maidenz younger counterparts, the PFC Galz were not so lucky in their match against Titikaveka Blue Blazes unfortunately. The Titikaveka Blue Blazes defeated the young team 4 goals to 1, bringing an end to the women’s matches for the day.
This afternoon 1st and 2nd Ladies in Black and PFC Maidens will go head to head to see who will take the lead in the open women’s division. Can PFC overtake the mighty Ladies in Black? Or will they be outplayed on the sand pitch? Following that game PFC Guyz are set to take on the Matavera FC team to kick off the men’s games after suffering their first loss last week will the PFC Guyz make a comeback this time around? Or will it be Matavera’s game? Team Wantoks will be facing off against Titikaveka Blue Ballz as the final match of the day and it is set to be another game where spectators will be on their feet. Can Titikaveka cause an upset for the Wantoks team? Or will they retain their lead in the competition.
