Ladies In Black, Champions Of Beach Soccer

Last Saturday the finals for the CIFA Beach Soccer Championship ended for the Open Women’s division. PFC Maidenz were at the top of the points table and were lined up to take the trophy and the title of CIFA Women’s Beach Soccer Champions, but not too far behind were the Ladies in Black and The Vibers who were only one point away from overtaking the Maidenz. The first match saw the Ladies in Black play the Titikaveka Blue Blazes to kick off the afternoons game’s. Ladies in Black were first to take charge for goals as they put 2 balls at the back of the net in the first half. As second half was underway Ladies in Black went on to score 1 more goal before Titikaveka soon replied getting their first point on the board. “Could Titikaveka make a miraculous comeback?” was the thought on everyone’s mind as the match continued. Ladies in Black were too strong for Titikaveka as they put one last ball behind the goal keeper to bring the final score at 4 goals to 1. Next up was the PFC Galz and Matavera FC Women’s. The young PFC Gals team went on to secure their first win today as they played a very close match with Matavera. PFC Galz were first to score with Matavera being quick to reply equalizing within minutes. As the game continued Puaikura didn’t waste time scoring not 1 but 2 more goals to give them a solid lead on Matavera. As second half was underway Matavera came back with 1 more goal before the hooter blew and the game ended on 3 goals to 2 in favor of the PFC Galz. The final match was the decider for who would be first place and take home the trophy, as the PFC Maidenz and the Vibers took the pitch. Both teams were fierce on the field and it was difficult for either team to best the other and get points on the board. As the hooter for first half was about to blow the Vibers put a ball past the PFC goalkeeper. PFC was on the roll looking for an equalizer in the second half when the Vibers capitalized on PFC’s hunger to attack by scoring another goal. There was still time for the PFC Maidenz to make a comeback but they were unable to finish before the game ended giving the Vibers the win with 2 goals to nil. With the difference in points after the game’s had been played, the trophy went to the Ladies in Black as the first placed winner for the women’s division, the Vibers moved up to take the second place after defeating the PFC Maidenz, and finally the Maidenz scooping up the third placed prize to bring an end to the Open Women’s division.

The open men’s were up next as Matavera FC Men’s and Nikao Sokattak took to the field. Both team’s were neck and neck in the first half as the score was tied up at 2 all. Matavera however managed to get a clear shot at goal and took the chance giving them the lead for the game before the hooter blew. Team Wantoks defeated the MC Stallion’s 8 goals to nil in the match that followed with the Black Wolves and Titikaveka Blue Ballz playing next. A goal from the Black Wolves in the first half kick started the match with Titikaveka quick to reply. A penalty for Titikaveka gave them the chance to equalize with Black wolves before the scored one more time in the first half to give them a 2 goals to 1 lead. As the second half was underway Titikaveka managed to get another ball past the goal keeper giving them a 2 point lead on the Black Wolves. Time was of the essence and unfortunately the Black Wolves were unable to equalize giving Titikaveka the victory with a 3 – 2 win. The final game of the day saw the PFC

Guyz and Boys take the field. The young PFC Boys struggled in the first half as the PFC Guyz went on to score a comfortable 3 goals with the young Boys unable to find the back of the net. Second half was underway and the PFC boys were determined not to be outdone from their senior counterparts, as they scored straight away from kick off. This gave the young PFC boys the momentum they needed as the game picked up un speed and a penalty gave them the opportunity to score another point as they got closer and closer to a tie with their seniors.
