Cook Islands Football Association’s Beach Soccer Competition is set to kick off this Saturday afternoon. The first games kick off at 3:50pm with 7 games to be played. The matches will be run on a Wednesday and Saturday afternoon over a 4 week period for the month of February. With 8 open men’s teams, as well as 6 open women’s teams that have been confirmed for the competition.
The teams will get a chance to play each of the teams registered for both the men and women’s as the competition will be run in a round robin format rather than splitting teams into pools. The two teams to look out for will be the Black Wolves Open Men’s and the Ladies in Black Open Women’s as these two were the victors of the 2021 Cook Island Beach Games Beach Soccer Tournament early this year in January. Other teams from the Beach Games will also be rejoining this competition such as the PFC Galz and Guys, Wantoks and MC Stallions. With the winning prize money of $1,000 up for grabs for first place there is no doubt that teams will be battling it out in order to win the first prize as well as earning the title of Beach Soccer Champions.
Can the Black Wolves and Ladies in Black retain their Beach Games title and carry on their victory streak in this competition?
