Cook Islands Football Association Goes Blue for Autism Awareness

The Cook Islands Football Association (CIFA) hosted the Blue Football Festival on Wednesday, a vibrant celebration of the sport and a powerful display of support for Autism Awareness Month. Over 150 children attended the festive event, which was organized by CIFA Staff,  National Under 16 Boys Academy and assisted by the National Under 15 Girls Academy.

The day was filled with fun and football-themed activities, including a coloring competition, relays, and even a unique twist on the classic game – crawling football. The coloring competition held special significance, as it was part of the Autism Cook Islands Campaign, aiming to spread awareness and inclusion for individuals with autism.

As the festival came to a close, attendees enjoyed a delicious spread of food, including fruits, popcorn, muesli bars, and a traditional sausage sizzle. The following day, representatives from Autism Cook Islands visited the CIFA Complex to receive a donation and the coloring competition entries.

Acting President to CIFA Moeroa Tamangaro commented on the event, expressing how important it is for CIFA to get involved with community campaigns and initiatives, also stating ” I look forward to the next festival”.

The Blue Football Festival was more than just a fun-filled event; it was a powerful statement of support from the Cook Islands football community for Autism Awareness Month. By getting involved and spreading awareness among young people, CIFA is helping to create a more inclusive society for individuals with autism.
