“Footballers Final Fight”

After a weeklong tournament and questionable weather, the semi-final games came to an end yesterday. Bringing on the finals, the last day for teams to showcase skills and hidden talents and most of all to represent their islands and clubs.

Due to extreme weather on Thursday the U18 Women and Men semi-final games had been postponed to Friday, however the U15 Girls and Boys continued their semi-finals games at the Nikao Sports Field.

The U15 Girls and Boys team semi-finalist came out onto the Nikao Sports Field determined to battle through the wet conditions to claim their spot in the finals.

In the U15 Boys division, the sons of Araura Enua drew 1-all against Avatiu which ended in a shoot-out determining the winner. Araura came out victorious with 4 goals to 3, giving them the final score of 5-4.

In the second game for the U15 Boys Division, Akatokamanava youngsters played hard against the warriors of Atiu but came out a goal short with the score 2-1 to Atiu.

A battle of the outer islands, playing for 1st and 2nd will be Aitutaki and Atiu U15 Boys. Followed with Mauke and Avatiu boys going head to head for 3rd and 4th place.

Playing for 1st and 2nd in the U15 Girls division all the way from the wild west, Puaikura’s girls who won 2-0 against Mitiaro, will take on Auau Enua maidens who won their game playing alongside Akatokomanava scoring 2 goals to 1.

The Finale, the Last Straw, games that will determine if your team will take home the sliver wear. Supporters and Families don’t miss the ending of a well fought battle and the chance to cheer on your winning teams.
