Geoff Brogan Returns Home as Assistant Coach for Cook Islands U16 National Men’s Team

The Cook Islands football community is proud to welcome home Geoff Brogan, who has officially joined the Cook Islands U16 National Men’s Team as Assistant Coach, working alongside Head Coach Jarves Aperau. A proud Cook Islander from Arorangi, Brogan returns with over 20 years of coaching experience built in Auckland.

Throughout his time abroad, he has developed a strong reputation for leadership, player development, and building high-performing environments across both youth and senior levels. Brogan currently serves as Head Coach of the Women’s Championship Team at Onehunga Sports Football Club, where he has played a key role in guiding and mentoring players within a competitive football structure.

Prior to this appointment, he held the role of Football Development Manager at Western Springs AFC, focusing on long-term player pathways, coach education, and strengthening development systems. In his role as Assistant Coach for the U16 National Men’s Team, Brogan will support all aspects of the programme, including training sessions, tactical preparation, match analysis, and individual player development.

His experience within structured football environments in New Zealand is expected to provide valuable insight as the team prepares for upcoming qualification campaigns. Working closely with Aperau, Brogan aims to help build a disciplined, competitive squad capable of performing at regional level. His return not only strengthens the technical team but also highlights the importance of Cook Islanders abroad giving back to the game at home.

Brogan expressed his enthusiasm about contributing to the growth of young players and helping the team pursue its qualification ambitions. With his extensive background and deep connection to the Cook Islands, his appointment marks an exciting step forward for the national youth programme and its continued development pathway.
