Nikao Sokattak and Tupapa Maraerenga finished their season on a well fought draw on Saturday. Both the senior women and premier men teams found themselves evenly matched.
Tupapa struck first in both matches scoring through the boots of Lee Harmon in the men’s and Moeroa Harmon in the women’s before Nikao equalized through the boots of Cahjun Willis in the men’s and Poko Manuela in the women’s match.
Avatiu came out triumphant over Matavera-Ngatangiia over the weekend as well, taking down both their premier men’s team and senior women’s team. The Avatiu premier men scored three goals to Matavera’s one scoring through the boots of Victor Elikana, Braden Kamana and Melbourne Matakino. Matavera’s goal was score by Iti Ngamata. In the women’s division, Avatiu’s sole goal was scored by N. Maaka.
Meanwhile on Friday Puaikura maintained a third-place finish taking down Titikaveka 8 goals to one. While the Puaikura senior women fell to Titikaveka 3 goals to nil. Puaikura’s Albert Taru scored a hat trick in his side triumphant win, his teammates Conroy Tiputoa, Joseph Tuaputa, and Pekay Edwards picked up a goal each and to finish the set Jarves Aperau scored a pair of goals as well. Titikaveka’s goal was scored by Akiona Tairi.
