Nikao Sokattak Premier Men’s team scored two first half goals to propel them to their victory over Titikaveka on Saturday at the CIFA Complex.
Okirua Eliu started off scoring for the Nikao side followed by star player Julius David. Titikaveka immediately came back and found the back of the net only a few moments later. Both sides had good spells of possession with some half chances which went mostly in Nikao Sokattak’s favor.
Wasting no time in the second period Nikao’s strikers and midfielders showed neat footwork in the box before lofting a fine shot past the Titikaveka goalie. Titikaveka fought back hard but were unable to get the ball past the Nikao Goalkeeper to even the scores.Nikao spurred by their fans maintained their tireless effort and were rewarded with a three goals to one win.In a fantastic, open and enjoyable match, Nikao Sokattak showed their class and deserved the 3-1 victory.
In the other Premier men’s division matches. Matavera with an inspired second half performance were on the edge of taking down top contenders Puaikura FC during Friday’s match up. Nearing the end of the second half the two teams were all tied up at 2 all and Matavera was high on the attack ready to take down their western rivals. Puaikura had not given up the fight just yet though, as we reached the final 10 mins of the match, Puaikura came back with 2 goals to secure their win over the Matavera side.
At Victoria park, the Avatiu premier men’s team were eager to keep competition leaders Tupapa at bay only letting in a single goal past the keeper. But alas that was the one goal that led the Tupapa side to victory.
