NIKAO TRIUMPS OVER TITIKAVEKA

Titikaveka’s time at the top has come to an end while Tupapa and Nikao remain tied at number one in the premier men’s division.

Nikao Sokattak was hosted by Titikaveka on Saturday when the side took down the hosts four goals to nil. The Alex Napa coached side came out strong noticing Titikaveka were starting short, launching attack after attack in hopes of putting the game out of reach early in the game. However, this wasn’t the case as Nikao had only scored two goals by the time Titikaveka’s full team arrived.

With the home side, still in the match Titikaveka tried to make a comeback using every opportunity they had to attempt a shot at goal of which none found the back of the net. Nikao being the more clinical side went on to score another two goals before the match ended. Nikao’s goals were scored through the boots of Julius David (3), and Toru Mateariki.

Meanwhile in the senior women’s division the scores were reversed and Titikaveka was triumphant over Nikao Sokattak. Both sides threw everything they had into the match but it was Titikaveka who came away with the victory. Titikaveka’s four goals were scored by Maeva Carr, Paulina Pierre (2), Hinnah Tatuava.

Meanwhile at the Takitumu school grounds, Both the Matavera-Ngatangiia senior women men gave Tupapa Maraerenga a tough challenge. Matavera’s senior women’s team who has shown significant improvement since the beginning of the season kept the scores at bay against Tupapa only letting two goals past throughout the entire match. The side was unable to score however leaving the scores at 2-0 by the final whistle. Scoring Tupapa’s Goals was Mii Savage and Temata Tuara.

The Tupapa premier men also came out victorious in their match achieving better results compared to their first-round match against Matavera but only after a good contest with the side. Tupapa kept clean sheets and scored three goals to remain on level points with Nikao Sokattak. Tupapa’s goals were scored by Francis Terepo (2) and Geoffrey Strickland.

On Friday Puaikura came away with a victory against Avatiu scoring five goals to Avatiu’s 1. Dwayne Tiputoa played a key role in Puaikura’s victory over Avatiu after he picked up a hat-trick for his side. Puaikura’s other two goals were scored by Paul Poila and Maeva Robati.
