Puaikura Overcome Nikao
Nikao Sokattak premier men came out strong against Puaikura during the Saturday match, at Raemaru Park dominating the early minutes of the game and scoring within the first half to go up 1-0. Puaikura, quickly recovered themselves and took control of the game to eventually score through the boots of Campbel Best, leveling the score 1-1. Puaikura’s attack broke down the Nikao defense in the 38th minute of the game when Dwayne Tiputoa scored the final goal, ending the game with a 2-1 win for Puaikura. In the senior Women’s division another draw was the outcome for the Nikao Sokkatak team. With Nikao leading the attack in the first half with Julz Westrupp and Velma Remuera finding the back of the net to end the first half at 2-0. The second half saw Puaikura out for redemption with Coral Seath putting away 2 goals for Puaikura to end the game at 2-2 draw.
On Thursday the Titikaveka senior women fought a tough battle with Tupapa in a match which eventually ended in a draw. Titikaveka showed dominance on attack when they penetrated the Nikao defensive line multiple times putting themselves in good positions to score but they weren’t able to finish. With Tupapa also unable to score, the game ended on a 0-0 draw with this being Tupapa’s second tie with a nil all result.
Friday’s match up saw the Titikaveka premier mens take on Tupapa Maraerenga at Victoria Park. Tupapa’s Graham Viking the first to put away a goal only minutes into the first half. Meanwhile Titikaveka had many chances at goal but were yet to score in the first half. The second half saw Titikaveka making their come back with Jedrick Engu scoring for the Titikaveka side from just past the halfway mark bringing the scores to 1 all. A second attempt at goal was made by Engu but he didn’t manage to one up the strong Tupapa side ending the game at a 1 all draw.
