Avatiu and Puaikura will kick off their third encounter this season when they meet at Raemaru park today.
While both sides suffered losses last week in the men’s division, their match today is building up to be a thriller. Avatiu were a prominent side for Nikao to beat last week and gave them a good run for their money. Avatiu goal keeper Henry Tanga had an outstanding game last week and will need to deny as many shots at goal from going in like he did against Nikao while his teammates up the front will need to find the net at any given opportunity to give their side a good shot at a win.
On the other hand, Puaikura will likely be aiming to redeem themselves after their loss last week to Matavera. Puaikura defender Jarves Aperau will need to command a strong defense line like in the past and will need to prevent Avatiu from scoring goals. His attacking teammates however will need to put away any goal scoring opportunities that come their way to elevate their chances of a victory.
Avatiu will be seeking points to climb up and off the bottom of the table while Puaikura will be aiming for a win to keep their third placed spot on the ladder.
In the women’s division, another anticipated match between the two clubs will be played at 2:30pm today.
The two teams are hopeful for wins and will be aiming to over throw each other in their match today. Puaikura is currently sitting in third place while Avatiu lie just beneath them and both sides will be hungry for points in hopes of climbing up the ladder. The women’s division is a very close battle and no team wants to lose. A loss for either side could ruin their hopes at a top three finish.
