It’s football time again! Today, Saturday 12th July, fans can look forward to an exciting afternoon full of energy, passion, and great matchups as Round 1 of the 2025 Rarotonga Football Season continues across two venues.
At the CIFA Complex, local favourites Avatiu FC will host Puaikura FC in the Premier Men’s main match at 4:20pm. This game is expected to be a thrilling showdown as both teams play their first match of the season and are fired up to start strong.
Avatiu will field a young and fearless side, full of promising talent coming up from their U18 team. Players like Paul Ngaroi and Andrew Teena will be ready to make their mark, showing off their speed, skill, and hunger to win. Supporting them are experienced senior players Luke Vidovi and Viiga Reupena, who will be key in leading the young squad and helping them stay focused under pressure. It’s a fresh and exciting new look for Avatiu, and fans will be keen to see how this young team performs on the big stage.
Puaikura, on the other hand, come in with a strong and balanced line-up. With attacking players like Jarves Aperau and Daniel Taokia, and the experience of Dwayne Tiputoa, they will look to control the game early and set the tone for the season ahead. This match promises fast-paced football and strong competition between two sides with something to prove.
Meanwhile, over at Teimurimotia Park, Titikaveka FC will take on last year’s champions, Tupapa-Maraerenga FC, also kicking off at 4:20pm. Titikaveka is bringing in some exciting young players from their U18 squad, including standout performer Maui Denny. They’ll also rely on the experience and leadership of long-serving player Teariki Piri, who adds strength and stability to the team. Titikaveka will be aiming to test the champions and show that they too are contenders this season.
Tupapa-Maraerenga FC are coming in with high confidence, eager to defend their 2024 title. With key defenders Teina Savage and Avi Enoka ready to lock down the back line, Tupapa will look to continue their strong form and start the season on a winning note. Expect a physical and high-energy battle between two proud clubs.
The day kicks off with youth action, as the U15 Boys matches begin at 2:10pm, followed by the U15 Girls at 3:15pm, at both venues. These early matches are always full of talent and excitement, giving supporters a glimpse into the future of Cook Islands football.
It’s set to be a big day across the island, with plenty of reasons to get out and support your local clubs. Whether you’re cheering from the sidelines at the CIFA Complex or Teimurimotia Park, the football spirit is alive and kicking.
