The Cook Islands Football Association (CIFA) is proud to announce the appointment of Susan Williams as the new Grassroots Development Officer — a role that will see her lead the development of youth football across Rarotonga and the outer islands.
A familiar face in Cook Islands football, Susan brings a wealth of experience both on and off the field. As a former captain of the Cook Islands Women’s National Team, she has represented the nation with pride and leadership, and her journey through the entire football pathway — from junior player to national captain — makes her a powerful role model for aspiring players.
Susan’s professional background extends beyond football. Her previous work with CISNOC (Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee) has equipped her with valuable skills in sports development, community engagement, and youth empowerment.
In her new role, Susan will focus on delivering the FIFA Football for Schools Programme, an exciting initiative that integrates football activities into the school curriculum to promote fun, fitness, and life skills among children. The programme will be rolled out across Rarotonga and extended to the outer islands, ensuring young players everywhere have the chance to enjoy the game and grow through sport.
In addition to the school-based programme, Susan will also lead Grassroots Football Festivals — community events designed to introduce young boys and girls to football in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment.
Adding to her new chapter, Susan is also a new mother to a beautiful baby girl, balancing her professional passion for football with the joys of motherhood — a reflection of her strength, dedication, and heart for the community.
CIFA Technical Director Matt Campbell said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Susan to the team. Her deep understanding of football in the Cook Islands and her passion for youth development make her the perfect fit to drive our grassroots vision forward.”
With her combination of experience, leadership, and commitment to growing the game, Susan Williams is set to play a key role in shaping the next generation of Cook Islands footballers.
