TITIKAVEKA THE VENUE FOR THIRD PLACE CLASH

Round fifteen’s midweek match-up will see Titikaveka and Puaikura face off for third place in the 2019 Vans premier men’s round cup competition.

The Puaikura and Titikaveka premier men sit in third and fourth place respectively and sit one point apart on the points table. Titikaveka need a win to climb their way back into the top three and deny Puaikura a top three finish while Puaikura need a win or a draw to secure the third-place spot.

Titikaveka have a lot of talent on attack with the likes of Akiona Tairi and Brian Akava in their front four and will need to use that talent to their advantage going up against Puaikura’s ace defenders, Jarves Aperau and Tamaiva Mateariki.

Tairi and Akava are very capable of scoring goals but their ability to score goals from a distance is what can catch teams off guard. The pair are also skilled with their footwork and can break through defenses and so in order to give their side the best chance possible at securing third place they will need to put away any opportunity that comes their way.

Aperau and Mateariki on the other hand are fantastic players to watch as they are fearless defenders. The pair have a “body on the line” attitude and will do everything they can to prevent goals from being scored. Aperau and Mateariki will likely need to put their body on the line again in their match tomorrow to give their side the best chance at coming away with the result they need to remain in the top three.

Playing today however will be the Titikaveka and Puaikura U14 Boys and Senior women. The Puaikura U14 boys will be seeking a win to elevate their chances of winning the BSP U14 Boys round cup. However, they will need to wait for the result of the match between the Tupapa Maraerenga and Nikao Sokattak U14 boys on Saturday.

The Titikaveka and Puaikura senior women have secured both second and third place respectively in the women’s division and so their match today is likely about achieving results to head into the knock-outs with confidence.
