TITIKAVEKA TO REDEEM THEMSELVES

Titikaveka’s premier men will take on Tupapa Maraerenga this weekend at the CIFA complex in Matavera and will be aiming to upset the table leaders to redeem themselves after an unfortunate second round of games.

Overlooking the fact that Titikaveka’s second round was not the best, they are not to be underestimated as they are still capable of pulling off upsets. Titikaveka are masters at pulling off unexpected results and will be aiming to do so against Tupapa this weekend. They will be hunting a win to show some resurgence and to add life back into their season.

Their players to watch will likely be Teariki Piri and Bill Tangapiri who have in the past played key roles in their side’s victories over other teams. Piri is excellent at creating opportunities while Tangapiri is a master at finding the net and the two will need to step in to do just that in today’s match.

Meanwhile, Tupapa recently rose to the top of the table overthrowing Nikao, and will be aiming to succeed in all their matches ahead to take out another round cup title. But before they get their hands on the trophy they must first overcome top sides such as Titikaveka in this final round of matches. Tupapa will use their experience, skill and speed to their advantage against Titikaveka this weekend and will need to put away all their chances to have a good shot at victory.

Tupapa’s Sunai Joseph and James Osinamo have been crucial to Tupapa’s attack in the past and will likely be crucial for the side again in tomorrow’s match. The pair are quick to create counter attack opportunities and are dangerous in front of the goal when given the chance and will need to be the lethal play makers they are in their match against Titikaveka to put the game out of reach.

Titikaveka’s women’s team will also be seeking redemption after their last encounter with Tupapa saw their victory snatched away in the last minute of the match. Their second-round encounter was a last-minute draw which saw Titikaveka drop from second to fourth at the time. Since then, Titikaveka have made progress back up the ladder, climbing back to second, and will now be looking for a win against Tupapa to make up for their unlucky draw. Titikaveka will put up a strong defense lead by Tehainnah Tatuava who will be aiming to shut down any and every Tupapa attack. At the same time their midfield will also need to create attacking opportunities to give their side chances at scoring goals to come away with a win.

Tupapa on the other hand now have their eyes on the prize with on a few wins standing between them and another round cup title. Tupapa will be aiming to win in today’s match to edge closer to another round cup win, however they must first defeat Titikaveka. They will look to use their speed upfront to counter Titikaveka’s strong defense and they will also look to put pressure on the Titikaveka midfield to force mistakes and give themselves more opportunities to score goals and come away with a win.

Also playing today at Raemaru Park is Puaikura and Matavera-Ngatangiia.
