The top of the table clash in the premier men’s division between Tupapa Maraerenga and Nikao Sokattak is set to take place today.
The two teams who have the same points on the ladder will be aiming to edge forward of one another in today’s match up when they face off at 4pm in Tupapa. Nikao’s young guns, Julius David, Mark Leito, Samuel Koiatu and Toru Mateariki will play crucial roles for Nikao in the match against Tupapa and will need to use their speed, skill, and experience playing with each other to their advantage to put goals away for their side. The quartet are very lethal when on attack and are Nikao’s players to watch in today’s match up.
Tupapa also have a few guns in their arsenal of players with the likes of Sunai Joseph, Grover Harmon and Anthony Samuela likely to play crucial roles for Tupapa. Anthony Samuela will need to hold a strong defense and provide quick counter attack opportunities to Grover Harmon in the midfield while up front Sunai Joseph will need to put away all goal scoring chances given to him.
The senior women’s match between Tupapa and Nikao will also be a game to watch when the two sides play at 2:30pm. Tupapa’s recent form does not look to be at their best which is what Nikao will need to capitalize on. Nikao will need to use their young and speedy defenders to prevent Tupapa’s fast paced counter attacks and using their speed up front to beat the Tupapa defense. Tupapa on the other hand will need to keep the ball moving to wear down the Nikao women and will need to make all their opportunities count to have good chances of coming away with the win.
Also playing today is Puaikura and Titikaveka at the CIFA complex in Matavera. The Puaikura premier men had a great match last week against Nikao and nearly turned the match in their favour. Today they will play Titikaveka who has not had a very good second round and will need to capitalize on Titikaveka’s form to come away with a win and grab some more points on the table.
Titikaveka started off the season with a bang, rising to the top of the table for the first round of matches and will need to replicate the same determination and hunger they did in the first round to come away with good results today.
The Titikaveka women’s team however be aiming to grab the second spot on the ladder off Puaikura today when the face off at 2:30pm while Puaikura will fight to stay in that second spot.
