Tupapa Dominate at CIFA Complex.

Tupapa Maraerenga greeted Avatiu to their doom in the Tower Insurance premier men’s match on Saturday, the giant killers Avatiu were unable to repeat their shocking takedowns at CIFA Complex.

As soon as the whistle had gone Tupapa made sure to keep the ball in their control, making it clear to the Avatiu team that they weren’t going to make it easy for them to win.

Tupapa’s skillful Pavo Mustonen steered the first goal within the first 10 minutes of the game, a corner kick that flew straight pass Avatiu players and on to the sturdy boots of Geoffrey Strickland found its way pass the keeper, scoring their first take, from there Tupapa dominated the field making it a difficult setting for usual goal scorers Silas Trego and Tini Maruhi to gain a foot behind alert defensive backs Dave Milanovich and young John Noovao who weren’t an easy two to pass through, when taking the ball into Tupapa territory.

Ending their first half at 2 nil, Tupapa came back on sight wanting to further their lead and made sure to do so, scoring right under Avatiu noses another 6 goals, claiming their 8-0 victory at the sound of the last hooter.

Down at Nikao Field, Nikao Sokattak cleared any obstacles for the Puaikura side to use in order to conquer them on their own grounds, Nikao came out victorious with a 2-0 score, on Friday Titikaveka and Matavera found the match a difficult one to overcome and ended their game at 1 all draw.

The invincible ladies in black ticked another win in their books against Avatiu in the Islander Senior Women’s match. Fiery defender Christina Areai held phenomenal kicks, setting up Tupapa forwards Mii Piri-Savage and Kayleena Kermode their two goals in the first half, both on the right side of the goal securing them their 3 points and a 2 nil win. On Avatiu’s side defenders Maya Mokoroa and Piri Murare found it hard to keep watch on Tupapa’s nippy forwards, though given multiple chances to score but couldn’t seem to find the net.

The second placed Puaikura women took down Nikao Sokattak with a single goal claiming their none to one triumph, on Thursday the Titikaveka women were defied by Matavera on their own field just managing to end on neutral scores 1-1.
