On Saturday the final day for the Beach Soccer Championship for the Open Men’s division took place. The games started with Black Wolves and PFC Guyz taking the pitch as the first match up of the day. An early lead by the Black Wolves put the PFC Guyz team on the catch up quite early on in the match. PFC equalized in the first half then overtaking in the second half giving them a 2 – 1 lead on the Black Wolves before a long shot equalized the scoreboard yet again. A 2 all tie was the final score resulting in PFC losing their place as second on the points table. Next up was Titikaveka Blue Ballz and the young PFC Boyz in which the Titikaveka Blue Ballz took the victory. Titikaveka was first to score and maintain a good 2 – nil lead in the first half of the match. An easy victory was in Titikaveka’s sights as the second half was underway, but complacency lead to PFC scoring their first point of the game. Time was on the PFC Boy’s side as they were not giving up yet. Unable to equalize the hooter was blown ending the close match up between the two teams with the final score resulting in 2 – 1 to Titikaveka. Matavera FC played the MC Stallions in the third game of the match in which the Matavera team dominated the Stallions 9 goals to 1 giving them the edge they needed to take second place on the points table. The final game for the day saw Wantoks and Nikao Sokattak take the field. Nikao Sokattak were not gonna get taken down by the competition leaders so easily as they went on to score first in the match. A penalty shot at goal saw Nikao get a comfortable 2 point lead on team Wantoks who had yet to score. As second half was underway Wantoks secured an opportunity and found the back of the net putting them on the scoreboard. Only a few minutes remained on the clock before Nikao slammed another ball past the Wantoks keeper ending the game in a 3 – 1 win to Nikao.
After the final game was played the team awards were given out with Wantoks taking home the trophy as the first place winners. Matavera FC taking second place and finally PFC Guyz taking the third place to bring an end to the CIFA Beach Soccer Championship.
