Atiu Just Play all Go

This is Phase Four of the social development grassroots football programme aimed at 6-13yr old boys and girls focusing on participation and Fun and was very much welcomed on Atiu.
Eight community leaders and teachers attended the two day course at the Enuamanu School Hall and field where they participated in both theory and practical sessions.
During day two almost 70 boys and girls took the opportunity to assist the facilitators in practice of delivering their sessions. The field lit up with happy active children as they took part in the afternoon’s activities while many parents watched on.
Unfortunately darkness set in as the final activities took place much to the disappointment of the children who would have been quite happy to carry on for some time.
At the end of the training course facilitators were presented with certificates as well as Just Play Kits full of equipment and resources to assist them in delivering the programme to their respective communities and school over the next six weeks and in the future.
As an extra incentive to get the kids outside and active Hula Hoops were also presented to the school.
The new facilitators will have the ongoing support of the Just Play Team as well as the assistance from a local who has been identified to help with the programme on Atiu.
If the children’s enthusiasm is anything to go by the new facilitators are going to be kept very busy over the coming weeks but Atiu looks set to follow in the footsteps of Aitutaki and Rarotonga by delivering another very successful programme.
We would like to thank the Australian Government (AusAid), UEFA and Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) for their continued support and funding of this fantastic programme.
