After having postponed their excursion twice already, Blackrock Pre-school wasn’t going to pass up on perfect weather to resume their plans to visit the CIFA Complex.
Up to 45 pre-schoolers along with their parents and teachers from the small school made the bus trip out to Matavera on Thursday, where they were welcomed onto the premises with a number of activities set up ready for them by Just Play’s project manager, Michelle Paiti.
The much-anticipated trip out to CIFA followed after the children had been learning in the classroom about the importance of healthy lifestyles and keeping active.
Coming out to the complex provided the group of two-to-four year olds the opportunity to be active through a variety of activities including small-sided football games, kicking the ball around, participate in obstacle courses and also learning how to work as a team.
Blackrock School’s principal, Stephanie Forbes said the trip was about providing the children a safe playing environment which CIFA offered with its vast-open pitch and fencing boundaries to keep the everyone contained in a closed-area.
“We chose CIFA because it was going to be about a lot of young kids running around freely and enjoying themselves and treating their safety as our number one priority. This was perfect for us and the set up of activities were remarkable,” she said.
Following their activities the children were treated to an exclusive showing of the Just Play mascot, Pasif-Ika, who dropped in for a short photo opportunity and show of football tricks for everyone to enjoy.
“Seeing the mascot come out and be with the kids was definitely a highlight for some of them,” Forbes said.
To conclude their excursion for the day the children fast became experts in learning how CIFA maintains its lush green pitches, from a tractor-mower demonstration and showcasing of its water sprinklers on the top field of the premises.
“We would like to thank Michelle and the whole of CIFA for allowing us the opportunity to come here and show the kids around. I know it meant alot to them and we are grateful for everything that was set up for us,” Forbes said.
Overall, it was a fantastic day out at CIFA enjoyed by the visitors and staff at the complex.
