Round 2, Game 7 of the grassroots and U18 Men’s football competitions will see young players across the island back in action today, with a full afternoon programme scheduled at the CIFA Complex and several community venues.
The spotlight in the grassroots divisions will fall on the U6, U8, U10 and U12 Mixed competitions, where players continue their football development through competitive and enjoyable match play. All four grades will kick off at 4:15pm at the CIFA Complex, creating another lively afternoon of football for players, coaches and supporters alike.
Among the featured encounters, Matavera-Ngatangiia FC will take on Avatiu FC in a fixture that will be replicated across all four age groups. Titikaveka FC will meet Puaikura FC, while Nikao-Sokattak FC faces Tupapa-Maraerenga FC as clubs look to build momentum in the early stages of the competition.
While results are always welcomed, grassroots football remains focused on participation, skill development and fostering a love for the game. The weekly fixtures continue to provide young players with valuable opportunities to improve their technical abilities, gain confidence and enjoy representing their clubs in a team environment.
The day’s action will continue with the U18 Men’s competition, where three matches are scheduled across the island. Matavera-Ngatangiia FC and Avatiu FC will meet at the CIFA Complex in a 4:55pm kick-off, a match expected to showcase some of the competition’s emerging talent.
At Teimurimotia Park, Titikaveka FC hosts Puaikura FC from 4:30pm, while Nikao-Sokattak FC takes on Tupapa-Maraerenga FC at Nikao Field, also beginning at 4:30pm. With players at this level continuing their progression towards senior football, the U18 Men’s division promises plenty of quality and intensity.
