A new face has arrived at the Cook Islands Football Association with the arrival of the new Technical Director Kevin McGreskin. With previous experience at the national level with the Bahama’s FA and more recently working in Canada and South Africa McGreskin said that “it has been a long trip, so it’s good to be here finally”.
“I’m excited to share my experience with the association and all involved with the sport here. I hope to help grow the game here, and help grow the national programs.” He stated
McGreskin got stuck right into work today by doing some research on football in the Cook Islands. “I did some research and got the understanding that a lot of sporting codes are all picking from the same pool of athletes as the population is so small and everyone plays multiple sports. So, we need to give the people some exposure to the sport and we need to help provide a high-quality experience for them so that football can become more attractive in their eyes and also influence them to say that’s football is their number one sport”.
McGreskin has a lot of history in football. From growing up and kicking the ball around in the streets of Scotland with his friends to working with professional teams and some national bodies around the world. His experience with football around the world is welcomed by Cook Islands football.
