The Van’s Premier men’s competition has proven to be very competitive so far this year with many still wondering who will come out on top. Tomorrow Nikao Sokattak will be playing Tupapa Maraerenga at home in hopes of snatching the three important points that will put them at the top of the table.
It’s up to Nikao Sokattak and Tupapa Maraerenga to prove who deserves to lead the premier men’s championship after 5 rounds of the competition has been played.
The battle for possession will also be an intriguing one with the competition’s most successful passers of the ball playing for either Nikao Sokattak or Tupapa Maraerenga.
Nikao Sokattak has made it three wins on the trot with a contented victory over close rivals Avatiu and they are now starting to produce the sort of football that was expected from them at the start of the season. They’ll want to claim back to back wins, and this is perhaps a fixture approaching must-win territory for the home team.
Tupapa Maraerenga extended their winning streak to three with a big win over Titikaveka last weekend and a win over Nikao Sokattak will truly stamp them as genuine Van’s premiership contenders.
The tension will be evident in Nikao where a big day is in store for players and supporters alike as their Premier Men’s team entertain Tupapa Maraerenga.
In the Islander senior women’s division Tupapa Maraerenga senior women’s team will be playing for a win at 2:30pm against Nikao Sokattak. This will not be an easy feat going up against Nikao Sokattak who will be looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season last week. Titikaveka will also be aiming to get the maximum points at the CIFA Complex against Matavera. It’s a real close competition in this division with only two points separating four teams.
The other venue for Saturday’s football matches will be played at the Cifa Complex between Titikaveka and Matavera.
