Women’s Football Set for PNG

Thirteen players and officials from Rarotonga will stay in New Zealand for four days and will be joined by the New Zealand based players. They will play two warm up games before departing on the 21st of October for PNG.
The Cook Islands will be playing three matches against Papua New Guinea, Tonga and overwhelming favourites New Zealand.
“It’s going to be a difficult tournament with the teams we are playing against all ranked higher than the Cook Islands” said Assistant Coach Michelle Paiti.
Several players were unavailable for selection for this tournament due to other commitments and this has opened the door for new players.
The Cook Islands will play the host country Papua New Guinea in its first match followed by Tonga and New Zealand.
The winner of the preliminary tournament qualifies for the FIFA World Cup in Canada next year.
