Happy Valley Festival Fun

Cook Islands Football through its Just Play program combined with four sporting organizations to put on this month’s exhilarating Village Festival for youngsters aged 5 to 13.
The purpose of the festival was to get children within the Village physically active after school by encouraging them to have a go at a variety of fun sports activities on offer as well as sharing important health messages.
The Festivals health message was hydration, with Ministry of Health’s Karen Tairea encouraging the children to keep hydrated with water which is the best drink for our bodies. The children were shown how much sugar is added to fizzy drinks and juices and were encouraged to drink at least 2 litres of water daily.
“We are thrilled with the support from the parents, and community as children were eager to participate in the sports codes. The children were encouraged to have fun and participate no matter what their age or skill level for a positive fun experience” said Just Play Project Manager Michelle Paiti.
Paiti would like to acknowledge Cricket, Netball, Athletics and the Ministry of Health for partnering up to deliver this month’s event and Australian Aid for continuing to support the Just Play Social Development Programme and Community Initiatives.
