Semi final action today

Today’s gathering will determine which school team will face each other in next week’s final showdown and to be crowned the 2013 Senior Primary School Champions.
Winner of Group A, Avarua is not leaving anything to chance when they face Group B runner up Titikaveka in the girl’s division. After losing to Arorangi last year Avarua is looking to bring home the silverware for their school.
It’s do or die for Titikaveka if they are to progress through to the next stage to play the winner in the Avatea versus Nukutere match.
Like Avarua, winner of Group B Avatea remains unbeaten during the round robin stages and today’s challenge will no doubt be tough against Group A’s runner up, Nukutere who have amped up their performance in this year’s competition. In the other semi final match Nikao will take on Arorangi for an overall placing.
Kicking off at 3.20pm in the boy’s category, the unbeaten Group A winner, Avarua will face the runners up of Group B Arorangi on field one while the ever dominant Group B winners Avatea will take to the pitch against Group A’s runner up Nukutere on field two. The winner from these two games will contest it out for a placing for first and second in next week’s finale.
In the semi final matches today Nikao will play against Titikaveka on field three while Papaaroa will go head to head against Te Uki Ou on field four.
Last week’s results proved to be exciting and disappointing for some schools who played so hard in trying to book a spot in the top four placing for today’s semi final matches.
In the girl’s division, Avarua wasted no time by punting through three unanswered goals against Nukutere in the first half and sealed the deal with another two goals in the second half, making it three out of three wins for their team while Nukutere registered two wins and a lose.
Nikao, finally taking their first win against Papaaroa winning by two goals to nil and Titikaveka registering their first win too over Arorangi, 1-0.
In the boy’s category, Nikao proved too strong for their opponents Te Uki Ou winning by four goals to nil while the vocal support and cheers from the Nukutere and Avarua match echoed across the CIFA complex, Avarua coming out on top winning by three goals to one. In the other matches Avatea was no match for Arorangi dominating the game and winning by six goals to two while Papaaroa and Titikaveka managed a one all draw for their efforts.
