Cook’s women’s soccer miss semi’s”

As the Cook Islands team went into their final game against Fiji yesterday, they were level with Tonga on four points in Pool B but a 1-0 loss against Fiji meant they were edged out by a goal difference by Tonga who had a goal difference of two and Cook Islands nil in their three games played during the pool stages.
Cook Islands had an early shot at goal in the second half through midfielder Mama Henry but was unable to find the back of the net. They dominated the second half but failed to equalize against Fiji as the final whistle sounded.
All in all it was generally a good match for the Cook Islands national women’s soccer team whose aim was to win a medal at the 2011 XIV Pacific Games in the women’s football tournament.
