Rutaki Village Festival Encourages Hydration

Be prepared for fun adrenaline-charged activities with this month’s health message of Hydration.
Just Play Project Manager, Michelle Paiti and Public Health’s Karen Tairea are encouraging our young children to be physically active while keeping hydrated with water. Water is the best drink for the body and brain.
“The festival is a fun way to learn about healthy choices and we always encourage the children to make positive choices by quenching their body’s thirst with water during the afternoon of fun activities” said Paiti.
Just Play Football will be teaming up with the Ministry of Health, Cook Islands Rugby, Cricket, Netball, Rugby League and Athletics to provide an afternoon of fun games.
“All children boys and girls 5 to 13 years are encouraged to come along to Rutaki field and have lots of fun with all the exciting activities on offer at the successful festival” Paiti continues.
The Village Festivals are a Just Play Community Initiative which provides all boys and girls with the opportunity to be physically active after school in their communities while having a go at a variety of different sporting activities and also receiving key health messages to help improve their lifestyles.
As normal water will be provided during the festival but we ask that children wear hats or sunblock to keep them safe from the sun.
Paiti would like to acknowledge the continued support of Australian Aid through the Just Play Social Development Programme and also thank all our partners in this community initiative.
