Sherman joins CIFA from the English Premier League’s Southampton Football Club. A former player with Swansea City Football Club, Sherman is the son of New Zealand Football’s Technical Director, Rob Sherman, and this will no doubt help to strengthen the working relationship between the two National Associations.
Cook Islands Football Association President, Lee Harmon is delighted to have secured the services of Sherman and believes his input will be invaluable.
“We are thrilled by Drew Sherman’s acceptance of this role. Sherman will no doubt bring a lot of experience and has a lot of Football contacts outside the Cook Islands and is still young with a lot of Energy” Harmon says.
Sherman certainly has the credentials to contribute much to CIFA. Sherman is highly regarded within professional football in the United Kingdom, becoming the youngest UEFA A License holder and youngest Academy Manager in the Football League. Sherman brings a wealth of experience and has an extensive track record working at the top of the game with English Premier League sides Everton Football Club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Swansea City as well as Southampton Football Club.
Sherman will take charge of the National Men’s Team in preparation for their forthcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifying campaign, and take responsibility for overseeing the development of all CIFA technical activities and development program.
