Cook Islands Football is celebrating a proud moment in referee development, with OFC badge holders Marcus Gibbens and Andrew Teena selected for the 2026 OFC U-15 Boys Development Tournament in Auckland, New Zealand.
The appointment marks an exciting step forward in the officiating journey of both officials, who will represent the Cook Islands alongside fellow male referees from Oceania’s Member Associations. It is the first time that both Gibbens and Teena have been selected for an OFC development tournament, highlighting their commitment, dedication, and continued progression within the referee pathway.
Marcus Gibbens, from Tupapa-Maraerenga FC, has been appointed as a Referee and holds an OFC Referee Badge. Through consistent performances in local competitions, he has established himself as one of the country’s leading match officials. This opportunity provides him with the chance to further develop his skills and gain valuable experience in an international tournament environment.
Joining him in Auckland is Andrew Teena of Avatiu FC, who has been selected as an Assistant Referee. Holding an OFC Assistant Referee Badge, Teena has shown excellent commitment to officiating and continues to make positive strides in his development. The tournament will allow him to work alongside other emerging officials from across the Pacific and further strengthen his experience at the regional level.
