Primary Schools look forward to Soccer Tourney

The competition will be played after school over a period of five weeks with the finals on Wednesday 30th March 2011.
Avarua, Arorangi, Nukutere, Avatea, Te Uki Ou, Imanuela, Papaaroa, Titikaveka and Nikao will battle it out on the field in both girls and boys division to see who will rein this year’s Primary School Soccer Tournament.
In the boys division the schools are split into two groups where they will play each school to determine which school will go through to the play offs while in the girls division a complete round competition will be played to determine the winner.
Avarua School won the first Senior Primary School Soccer Competition in the boys and girls division when it first kicked off in 2009; however Arorangi stole the limelight in the boys division last year to take the title while in the girl’s division Avarua School retained their title for another year.
The Primary School Soccer competition coincides with Cook Islands Football annual visits to the primary schools around Rarotonga, teaching and coaching the children the basic technical side of football and finishing with fun games.
The new Senior Primary School Soccer competition is in its third year and has proven to be popular with the children, teacher and parents.
A one day tournament will also take place for junior players in Grades 4, 5 & 6 on the 11th week of Term 1, where school teams will put together a B grade boys and girls team and mixed teams.
