Rebels Win Second Game 3 -0

With supporters for both teams in the grandstand cheering, the Rebels beat CIFA U16 Girls three goals to nil on Tuesday.
In the first half both teams were pressing at every opportunity to score.
After a relentless effort and some skilled defending, the determined visiting team managed to score the first goal of the match from Holly Grover, with Ellerslie taking the lead.
Moments later Ayla Surtees of the Rebels found the back of the net and scored, leading two goals to nil.
Rebels fought hard to keep the CIFA U16 Girls at bay.
The first half ended with Ellerslie Rebels leading two goals to nil.
In the second half both teams continued to play a strong attacking game with relentless pressure on the defense of both teams.
Nicky Harrison of the Rebels scored the third goal for the Rebels, continuing its lead three goals to nil.
With several attempts at goal CIFA U16 Girls were unable to find the back of the net.
The match ended with the final score of three goals to nil in favor of the Ellerslie Rebels team.
Ellerslie Rebels coach Jason Oliver was very proud of his team. “The team combined really well and created opportunities. The CIFA U16 Girls team was very fit, fast and skilled. We knew it was going to be a tough match and we prepared for it”.
“We have really loved our visit to the Cook Islands. Our Cook Islands connection is with one of our coaches Nga Kairua and our partnership with Cook Islands Football. Our team has bonded well on this tour and especially with the Cook Islands Trek up the needle, visit to the CICC Church and Lagoon Cruz,” said Oliver.
“We would like to thank everyone who has helped us with our tour, the football community for your overwhelming hospitality and especially Nikao Sokattak, Tupapa Maraerenga and Cook Islands Football Association. We have loved getting a taste of the local culture and Ellerslie Football will definitely be coming again next year. The experience has been phenomenal and we look forward to a long term partnership with CIFA,” continued Oliver.
The Ellerslie Rebels will play Tupapa Maraerenga today at 5:00pm at Victoria Park for their final match as they depart tomorrow.
A display of talent and football skills will be on show from the visiting team and also from the local team.
