Countdown is on for 2017 Rarotonga Football Season

The 2017 Rarotonga Football Season returns when the season officially begins on Wednesday 19 July 2017 in the Under 8 Mix, Under 11 Mix and Under 17 Men’s divisions at the CIFA complex in Matavera.

The pools have been decided and the pre-season fixture was finalised at a meeting conducted on Wednesday 21 June 2017 with all local football club representatives at the CIFA headquarters.

The Pre-season competition which will run from Wednesday 19 July with the finals to be played on Saturday 12 August 2017 and is no doubt holding out to be an exciting competition with a number of intriguing match ups in the round robin play.

All teams have been drawn into two pools; Pool A and Pool B, for the Pre-Season Competition and

Pool A consist of: Titikaveka FC, Puaikura FC, Takuvaine FC, and Tupapa Maraerenga while Pool B consist of: NIkao Sokattack FC, Avatiu FC and Matavera FC.

The seven divisions participating the pre-season, including the Premier Men, Senior Women, Under 17 men, Under 14 Girls, Under 11 and Under 8 Mix teams.

“We can now countdown until the first game,” says Competition Manager, Pauline Dean.  “That’s when the reigning champions of all divisions will begin their 2017 campaign to retain the silverware.”

The competition will set the scene for the soccer season and will provide players and teams ample game time and preparation heading into the main season for the year. The competition will run for four weeks and each team will play one full round of games before heading into the knock-out format where the winner of Pool A will play against the runner up of Pool B, and the winner of Pool B will take on the runner up team from Pool  A to determine the finalists of the competition ending on Saturday 12 August 2017.
