The Annual Junior Primary Schools Football Tournament is all set to go off today at the Takitumu School grounds in Matavera for Grades 4, 5 & 6 students.
The Rarotonga Primary School teams battling it out for 2017 honours will be Apii Arorangi, Apii Avarua, Apii Imanuela Akatemia, Apii Nikao, Papaaroa College, Apii Rutaki, Apii St Joseph, Apii Takitumu and Apii Te Uki Ou.
The divisions up for contest are B Boys, B Girls, B Mixed and C Mixed and last year’s champions will no doubt battle it out on the pitch to retain their title however the tournament has seen its fair share of competitive football and this year’s contenders will surely put it all on the line today to win top honours for their respective schools.
Over the course of the school term CIFA technical staff have visited the primary schools to gain insight on some of the talent that are amongst some of the youngsters. This will undoubtedly be showcased on the pitch throughout today’s tournament.
More than 300 players, teachers and spectators are expected to turn up to the Takitumu School grounds to watch an action packed and fun filled soccer matches.
The first game is scheduled to kick off at 8:45am and with the final games finishing around 2.00pm. The presentation of trophies will follow after the final matches.
There will be food stalls available at the tournament, so parents and supporters can refresh themselves while enjoying all the football action.
