Three recipients to soccer Scholarship

These three recipients were also part of the Cook Islands Under-17 Men’s Squad that participated in the Oceania Under-17 Men’s Championship in New Zealand last month.
They will be departing our shores for New Zealand tomorrow morning and will be joining second year recipient Terii Framhein who will no doubt be on hand to support and guide these young players in their first year at Mt Albert Grammar and also with soccer.
Excitement and nerves are evident on the three recipient’s faces as they take this great opportunity and for their proud parents to be a part of it.
Anthony Samuela who hails from Mitiaro arrived this week with his father and was briefed of what to expect in the scholarship.
“I am excited to be selected as part of this scholarship and look forward to a great year,” said Samuela.
CIFA President, Lee Harmon mentioned that the program started eight years ago and has been very successful where ninety percent of those that went on the program end up playing for our national team.
In the past years other elite players has also been given this great opportunity and has returned and are currently showcasing what they have experienced and have given that back to their local clubs and CIFA.
