The Cook Islands Football Association’s Technical Department will be hosting trial games for potential U16 and U19 national players for OFC Preliminary Competitions in 2018 tomorrow Wednesday November 22nd at the CIFA complex at 4.30pm.
CIFA National Staff will be observing players throughout the games to identify prospective players for these two youth National Teams. A number of players have been identified by the CIFA Technical Department to participate in these trial games tomorrrow. The final selection of the teams will be made with several overseas players from abroad a few weeks prior to the tournament date.
Any player not yet identified by the CIFA technical department who feel they have a chance of making the final selection are most welcome to attend.
The U19’s OFC Preliminary Men’s Championships will be hosted in Rarotonga, Cook Islands from May 26th – June 1st 2018.
U16’s OFC Men’s Preliminary Championships will be taking place in Tonga from July 14th – July 20th 2018.
Last year the Cook Islands U19 team progressed through to the final stage of the Oceania Tournament and played teams such as New Zealand.
The U16 missed out on qualification to the final stage to Samoa by one point.
