It was a good soccer day for Nikao Sokattak who won their last round of games of the championship to claim second spot for the premier mens team and on top of that, the senior womens team claimed the title for the Islander Hotel Round cup competition in a closely contested battle for the number spot.
It was a satisfying end for the Nikao Sokattak’s premier mens team who came into the day a point ahead of Puaikura, needing only a win to to secure their placing. On a windy and rainy day they still managed to dominate and defeat Matavera 3-0 on Saturday to secure their top-four finish..
Nikao Sokattak striker Julius David enjoyed a productive away day by scoring twice. He and Nathan Tism got the goals. The home team Matavera dominated action in the opening minute of the first half, putting on a clinic of passing and ball movement that even led to a threatening attack which was quickly taken apart by Nikao Sokattaks defense. However for the remainder of the match Nikao Sokattak started to control possession and never allowed Matavera a good look at the goal. In the 4th minute of the first half Julius David receives a pass and immediately fires a grounded shot into the bottom right corner of the net, scoring the only goal of the half.
They came out agressive in the second half, putting Matavera on their heels, Julius scores again just four minutes into the period. It was the visitors with the better of the opportunites and given Nikao Sokattak’s relentless pressure, a goal seemed inevitabe-and one came on the boots of Nathan Tism. Matavera was out-matched from start to finish.
The outcome of that game spoiled an impressive 8-3 win from Puaikura over Titikaveka.
