Puaikura go down to Red Devils

It seemed like the Red Devils were more desperate for a win than the home team which needed the maximum points to keep their second spot finish hope alive. But the side failed to show any zeal in the Van’s Premier Men’s Competition on Saturday.
In a one sided affair, Takuvaine overcame a slow start to put pressure on the Puaikura defence as Jason Potoru scored the first goal of the match to lead 1-0.
Puaikura looked to equalise but were unable to get past the solid defence of Takuvaine.
The first half ended with Takuvaine leading one goal to nil.
In the second half Takuvaine dominated all facets of play and Luki Gosche of Takuvaine was on top of his game scoring four goals to kill Puaikura’s hope of a better finish this season. The second half ended with Takuvaine winning five goals to nil.
In the other Van’s Premier men’s matches on Saturday, Matavera and Avatiu drew one all. On Friday Titikaveka beat Nikao two goals to one.
In the Islander Hotel Senior Women’s matches on Saturday, Takuvaine beat Puaikura two goals to nil and Matavera and Avatiu drew nil all. At the CIFA complex in Matavera, Tupapa Maraerenga defeated CIFA Under16 Academy girls five goals to nil.
