The Cook Islands U15 Girls Development Team has concluded its campaign at the OFC U15 Girls Youth Development Tournament 2026, finishing 7th overall following a week of competitive football and valuable international exposure in Fiji.
The tournament formed part of an important youth development initiative for emerging players across Oceania, providing young athletes with the opportunity to compete against quality opposition and further develop their skills on the international stage.
Cook Islands opened the tournament against hosts Fiji, with the match ending 3-0 in favour of Fiji. The team then delivered a strong performance against New Caledonia in a competitive contest that finished 2-1 to New Caledonia.
In their third fixture, the girls faced a strong New Zealand side, with the match concluding 9-0 in favour of New Zealand. Despite the challenging result, the squad continued to show resilience, discipline, and determination throughout the tournament.
The team finished their campaign in the 7th/8th playoff against Tonga, where they secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw before going on to win the penalty shootout to officially claim 7th place overall.
Throughout the tournament, the Cook Islands squad demonstrated growth, commitment, and professionalism both on and off the field. The experience gained against international opposition will play an important role in the continued development of these young athletes and the future of women’s football in the Cook Islands.
