Football Festival receive boosts from sponsors

This week the Cook Islands Football Association (CIFA) will be launching the exciting, all new “Kia Orana Youth Football Festival“ a programme designed to target, support, and to develop young future upcoming local football prospects.

CIFA recognizes that they are not alone in this endeavour and appreciate the generous support of corporate sponsors to create lifelong memories for all.

To kick start the memories, festival sponsors from Air Rarotonga Ltd, Perfumes of Rarotonga and Cook Islands Tourism was hosted to a lunch at The Islander Hotel on Friday to say Meitaki Maata for their support towards festival through financial assistance and branded products. Their contribution to making this Kia Orana Youth Football Festival dream a reality that offers the best opportunity for exposure to high level competition for our young football players.

“We would like to extend our appreciation to all our sponsors, Meitaki Maata for accepting our request to come on board to support our youth football event, we are forever grateful,” says CIFA President, Lee Harmon.

The general view of the sponsors was that they support youth development programmes across the Cook Islands and the involvement of the outer islands and overseas teams add more ‘flavour’ so to speak, to the development of football in the Cook Islands.  It will be a great experience and exposure for all teams to participate in a tournament of this calibre.

It is all set to be a fantastic event with enormous potential to grow with the support of the Cook Islands business community. A big Meitaki Maata to Air Rarotonga for the assistance with the airfares for our outer island teams and their branded water bottles for each player. Cook Islands Tourism for the information packs and tees and Perfumes of Rarotonga for the sponsorship of their iconic soap bars.

CIFA continues to maintain and uphold its active involvement in creating a number of programmes that are designed to support and develop our young local football talent.

The week-long event is set to take off from 15-22 April at the CIFA Complex, so head on down to Matavera and support your team!
