“Fourteen teams clash in Senior Primary School Tournament”

The stage is set for the 10th Annual Senior Primary School Football Festival which will kick off on Wednesday 21 April 2018 with fourteen school teams competing in the epic football extravaganza.

The school teams include seven boys and seven girl’s teams from Avarua, Arorangi, Nikao, Titikaveka, Nukutere, Papaaroa and Te Uki Ou. They will battle it out on the field in both the girls and boy’s division to see who will have bragging rights in this year’s tournament.

The Cook Islands Football Association Development Officers have been visiting schools around Rarotonga to help students familiarize themselves with basic rules and techniques.

Both the boys and girl’s divisions schools will have been split into two pools, Pool A and Pool where they will play each school team to determine which school will go through to the play offs before heading to the finals to settle out the winner.

Schools that have been drawn into Pool A are Avarua, Arorangi, Nikao and Titikaveka while in Pool B include Nukutere, Papaaroa and Te Uki Ou.

Apii Nikao who were the winners of last year’s Senior School Tournament in both the boys and girls division will be looking to repeat their fine form but will have to put up a good fight against other schools who will be taking their shot at the title holders. This year’s contenders will surely put it all on the line today to win top honours for their respective schools.

The participants will also get an opportunity to be selected to be a part of CIFA’s grassroots development programs.

Good luck to all participating schools for your games tomorrow.
