Nikao host first match

Footballers from across Rarotonga will be honing their soccer skills as they take to the pitch for the 2018 Rarotonga football season, commencing from tomorrow.

The Nikao football club will host Titikaveka for its first matchup of the season this Thursday and Friday as Nikao Sokattak take on Titikaveka at the Nikao sports field.

The season opener for Nikao Sokattak’s premier men’s team on Friday will set the tone for the club. Early success will be vital for their team to gain momentum with an already established team.

Nikao Sokattak is filled with young talent and are hungry to prove they belong among the top teams.

TItikaveka has often caused big upsets last season so it will be interesting to see if that trend continues.

This matchup will be about much more than just a game of soccer. The matchup with Titikaveka will be the first on-the-field clash between two teams who will be battling every week to better their chances of winning the 2018 Rarotonga round cup competition and qualify for the Oceania Champions League.

To open tomorrow’s preceding at 4pm will be the young men from Nikao Sokattak and Titikaveka, who no doubt will field their best to win their first game of the season and the Nikao Sokattak and Titikaveka women’s have the privilege to get things started for the senior women’s division.  Both squads have what it takes to sneak into the top half of the table when the season ends.
