U17 showdown set to be a cracker

DRAMA will be in high supply when Nikao Sokattak meets Titikaveka later today in the Under-17 men’s knockout final at the CIFA Complex.

The match kicks off at 4.30pm in Matavera, with both teams set for their final showdown in the Rarotonga football season

Nikao Sokattak heads into today’s clash undefeated, having won the pre-season and Round Cup competitions this year.

With 66 goals scored and only 10 goals against during their Round Cup campaign, Nikao has managed to outmuscle competition in the 2016 domestic league.  The unstoppable side outclassed Matavera 5-1 in their semifinal match last week to confirm their spot in the CIFA knockout final.

Reflecting back on their season, they have had a remarkable run – winning by big margins.

With the young Mark Leito in the middle leading the squad, it is no wonder the team have been incredible to watch from day one.

But Nikao will need more than Leito to make a clean sweep this season. Team work will play an instrumental role for them against the minnows Titikaveka.

The ability to read the game comes easy for the side as they have played alongside each other since the U14 division.

Titikaveka also have some weapons of its own. Teokotai Tupuna and Ioane Moore were recently identified as potential national players this year and will no doubt be up to meet the challenges set out for them in today’s clash.  They also have a number of speedsters to match Nikao on the wing and up front.

The side has come far in the competition with their strong-will and perseverance.
