ZERO WINS OUT OF THREE GAMES FOR TUPAPA MARAERENGA FC

Tupapa's Lee Harmon Jr Chases down the attacking AS Magenta player.

As the OFC Champions League 2019 – group stage came to an end, so did Tupapa Maraerenga’s champions league campaign. The Rarotonga Football Champions in their final game went down ten goals to 1.

One bright side came out of this campaign as Coach Delainey Yaqona stated that “For the players, they know what it’s like to compete at this level and if they want to come back, they know they’ve got to get themselves into much better shape in the future.”

“It’s a good experience for the boys to see the pace of the game, not just the pace of the game at this level but playing against some of the best teams at this level of the competition,” Yaqona explained.

OFC Media reported that the Tupapa Goal, scored by Pekkay Edwards Powerful header was the goal of the match. Tupapa won a direct kick five meters from the halfway line, with Ishaq Nazeem sending the ball to the penalty box.  Edwards leapt at the penalty mark area, and with Magenta’s Mickael Tiaou defending him closely, he headed the ball to the far post and found the back of the net for a great score during the 67th minute of the match.
