Goals galore at weekend football

The eleventh round of the 2012 Rarotonga Round Cup Competition brought plenty of goalmouth drama as the net was bulged 15 times across the two Lotto Premier men’s games.
Tupapa Maraerenga kicked off the high scoring with nine unanswered goals win over host Matavera. Delaney Yaqona headed Tupapa’s first goal from a corner kick with the Matavera’s goal keeper unable to save the goal. Campbell Best adding Tupapa’s second goal before the half time break.
Tupapa proved too strong for Matavera dominating both ball and field possession as they added another seven goals to their score sheet before the full time whistle.
Nikao Sokattak too confirmed their dominance with a five goal win over Arorangi, with the score line of six goals to one. Three goals scored in the first half through Nathan Tisam, Paavo Mustonen and Edmond Tupuna.
In the second spell of the match, Nikao Sokattak added another three goals however Arorangi did not give up with five minutes of play remaining a foul was committed in the eighteen yard area and youngster Dwayne Tiputoa capitalized on the opportunity to score the sole goal for his team.
In the CIPS Image & Copy Centre women’s championship Tupapa’s senior women’s team defeated Matavera convincingly by seven goals to nil while in the other match Arorangi drew nil all against Nikao Sokattak.
In the junior divisions host Nikao Sokattak claimed honors in the SAVA Under 14 boys winning by three goals to two while visitors Tupapa Maraerenga beat Matavera by two goals to one. In the Under 14 Girls division Matavera defeating Tupapa by one goal to nil while a nil all draw was registered between Nikao Sokattak and Arorangi.
