Tupapa too strong for Avatiu

Hosts, Tupapa Maraerenga dominated the game in most facets of play with field and ball possession at the first whistle and scoring within the first five minutes of play through Aminesh Prasad with a bullet shot within the six yard area when Avatiu failed to clear the ball away from their goal mouth.
Before the half time whistle Tupapa Maraerenga added another two goals through Campbell Best to bring the half time score to three goals to nil.
In the second spell of the match Tupapa hit it off again with another two goals scored through mid fielders Rhys Ruka and Grover Harmon. Avatiu was awarded a penalty with a tussle within the six yard area, Tahiri Elikana capitalizing on a goal scoring opportunity to put Avatiu on the score sheet.
Tupapa extending their lead through striker Campbell Best with the final result six goals to one in favour of hosts Tupapa Maraerenga.
In the other Lotto Premier men’s game, Nikao Sokattak defeated Titikaveka by nine goals to one at the CIFA complex in Matavera. Nikao’s Paavo Mustonen put away seven goals for his side with Teariki Materiki and Steve Cuthers also adding their two goals for their win over Titikaveka. Titikaveka’s sole goal was scored by Apenera Short.
The CIPS Image & Copy Centre women’s championship saw Titikaveka beat Nikao Sokattak by two goals to one. Tititkaveka remain in close contention with leaders Arorangi who were on a bye last Saturday.
In the other CIPS Image & Copy Centre women’s championship Tupapa Maraerenga and Avatiu drew nil all in their contest last Saturday.
The junior division proved to be competitive as their senior sides with Tupapa Maraerenga winning their match in the SAVA Under 14 boys and under 14 girls division while Nikao Sokattak dominated their opponents Titikaveka in the other football games last Saturday.
Tupapa Maraerenga will now meet Nikao Sokattak this weekend in the Lotto Premiership for the main game of the league.
