Semi finalists found

In the featured Premier men’s match played at Victoria Park on Saturday, Avatiu struck a blow in the hearts of the Arorangi players and supporters with four unanswered goals to see their side progress through to the semi finals this week.
The first half of the match, Avatiu belted through three goals with the first goal finding the top corner pocket from the lace of Repaio Jones. Avatiu’s second goal came ten minutes after through a corner kick which found the forehead of Lee Ponini, catching Arorangi’s goal keeper John Vano off-guard to save the shot. Before the half time break Repaio Jones scored his team’s third goal.
In the second spell of the match, Arorangi pressed more into the Avatiu half, trying tirelessly to set up their forwards Anonga Tisam and Robert Heather. Much to the relief of the Avatiu goal keeper and supporters, both were unable to score for their side. When it seemed that the final result was to sit at three goals to nil, Avatiu’s youngster Marcelo Rairoa found himself nudging the ball into the goal before Arorangi’s goal keeper could have a full grasp of the ball sending the Avatiu supporters into a frenzy.
With a beaming relief on the face of Avatiu Captain Tahiri Elikana he expressed his team’s satisfaction and joy with the outcome of their game.
“We wanted this win so bad and we have proved that we should go through to the semi finals,” Tahiri Elikana says.
“I think it must be the ‘luck of the Irish’ on our side following a disappointing round cup performance. We now have our sights set for the semi finals and we will certainly put our body on the line and with anticipation will take our club to the knock-out finals,” he said.
In the other premier men’s match Nikao Sokattak thumped Titikaveka by eight goals to nil at the Matavera School grounds. Friday’s premier men’s game Takuvaine’s one goal to nil win over Matavera have earned them a spot in this week’s semi finals.
