Cook’s U-17 Men’s soccer Squad named

The team is due to travel to Auckland earlier in the New Year on the 4th January.
The squad is made up of eighteen home based players and one New Zealand based player. Five of the players in the squad are from the outer islands, two from Aitutaki and three from the tiny island of Mitiaro.
Cook Islands will be joined by fellow member associations, American Samoa, Fiji, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tonga, Vanuatu and host nation New Zealand.
Cook Islands have been drawn in Group B and will meet New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Tahiti.
According to Coach Tuka Tisam, “the real test for his squad will be Tonga as the Cook’s are on par with them”.
“The other teams in our pool are all ranked higher than the Cook’s but we will try our best against them”
The Cook Islands Men’s Soccer squad to participate in the upcoming OFC U-17 Men’s Championship in New Zealand is:
Rangi Piri (Matavera), Michael Murare (Matavera/Mitiaro), Anthony Samuel (Matavera/Mitiaro), Gifford Enoka (Matavera/Aitutaki), Tamaiva Smith (Tupapa), Mii Putai (Matavera/Aitutaki), Temana Pennycook (Arorangi), Marcello Rairoa (Avatiu), Twin Tiro (Tupapa), Irangi Mauri (Nikao), Jamian Iroa (Tupapa), Michael Mouauri (Nikao), Luke Tukaroa (Arorangi), Arama Bishop (Avatiu), Akiona Tairi (Titikaveka), Marcus Toru (Avatiu), Eric Katoa (Tupapa) and Daniel Nicol (New Zealand).
The team is coached by Tuka Tisam and assisted by Ngatokorua Elikana, Managed by Paul Turepu.
