Cook Islands’ up-and-coming referee Teupoko Tuariki is set to take an exciting step forward in her officiating journey, having been selected as an Assistant Referee for the 2026 OFC U-15 Girls Youth Development Tournament in Fiji.
Tuariki’s selection marks a proud moment for local football, as she represents the Cook Islands on the regional stage among a group of promising match officials from across Oceania. Having received her official OFC badge last year, this appointment highlights her steady progress and growing reputation within the refereeing community.
With just 2–3 years of experience in officiating, Tuariki’s rapid rise reflects both her dedication to the game and the increasing opportunities being created for local referees through Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) development pathways. These initiatives are designed to support and nurture match officials, providing them with valuable international exposure and a clear pathway to progress through the ranks.
Her appointment also signals the continued growth of women’s football in the Cook Islands—not only for players, but for officials as well. Opportunities like this allow referees to gain experience in high-level tournaments, further strengthening the quality and confidence of match officials back home.
As Tuariki prepares to take the field in Fiji, she carries with her the pride of the Cook Islands football community.
All the best, Teupoko!
